Great BIG Wine Survey: Terms and Conditions

These are the official terms and conditions of the competition (also referred to as T&Cs). Please take a moment to review these terms and conditions. By your participation, you agree that these terms and conditions will govern all aspects of your relationship with the competition, the Promoter and it’s competition-related partners. These terms and conditions can only be modified (or superseded) by the Promoter (in its reasonable discretion) in a written revision to these terms and conditions posted on the competition website or (at the Promoter’s sole discretion) any other potential official competition communication methods reasonably calculated to reach a majority of potential participants.


  1. The competition is conducted by the Promoter.
  2. No person who is a director, employee, sponsor or agent of or consultant to the Promoter or who is a spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister, business partner, or associate to a director, employee or agent of or consultant to the Promoter is eligible to participate or enter this competition.
  3. This competition is only open to legal residents of the Republic of South Africa over the age of 18 year.


  1. The competition runs from 19 June to 15 August 2020. No late entries will be accepted.
  2. To enter the competition participants need to take part in the Great BIG Wine Survey online:
  3. The winners will be randomly chosen via a certified method of selection.
  4. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, delayed or damaged in transmission.
  5. Entries reflected on the Promoter’s records will be treated as the only validation source and will be the only evidence of successful entries.

Closing Dates: Entries must be received by the Promoter no later than 15 August 2020.


  1. Each participant that completes the full survey will be a awarded a complimentary Online Course (valued at R495). Further details will be communicated by the Promoter following full completion of the survey
  2. Each participant that completes the full survey will be entered into the draw to win wine for a year courtesy of Olive Brook’s SPAR Sommeliers Selection. This consists of 12 cases.
  3. Each participant that unlocks the first incentive point in the survey will be entered into the draw to win 1 of 5 R500 SPAR Voucher
  4. Each participant that unlocks the second incentive point in the survey will be entered into the draw to win 1 of 3 R1000 SPAR Voucher
  5. The above prizes will be couriered to the respective delivery addresses supplied by each of the winners
  6. All of the abovementioned prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash
  7. In the event of the Promoter not being able to contact the first drawn winner of the competition, the Promoter reserves the right to draw again.
  8. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the original prize is unavailable.
  9. The Promoter is not responsible for any damaged prize items after signature/confirmation of receipt.

Prize winner selection

  1. The prize winners will be selected by random draw in each of the aforementioned cases.
  2. The prize winners will be notified by telephone, email or via social media and the prize winners’ names may be published on the competition websites or social media accounts at the Promoters discretion.
  3. Prize winners may be requested to participate in publicity connected to this competition.
  4. The prize winners grant permission for the use of their names and photographs in any advertising and promotional material for this competition.
  5. Participants and winner(s) absolve the Promoter, its affiliates, its advertising agencies, advisors, suppliers, nominated agents and dealers from liability from any and all claims howsoever arising, including from wilful misconduct or negligent acts or omissions on the part of any such person.
  6. The Promoter reserves the right to alter or cancel the competition at its discretion, without recourse.

Announcement of winners: Winners will be announced no later than 31 August 2020

General Terms and Conditions

  1. The participant unconditionally and irrevocably indemnifies and holds harmless the Promoter and its successors, employees, officers, suppliers, contractors, agents, consultants, directors and shareholders against all and any losses, claims, proceedings, actions, damages, (direct, consequential or otherwise), liability, demands, expenses, legal costs (on an attorney and own client basis), medical costs or other costs howsoever arising out of, based upon, or in connection with (directly or indirectly) the participants participation in the competition, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
  2. If a participant contravenes these terms and conditions, the participant may, at the Promoter’s discretion, be disqualified from the competition.
  3. The laws of the Republic of South Africa govern this competition.
  4. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or alter any aspect of the competition at any time at its sole discretion without liability.
  5. By entering this competition all participants agree to receive communication from the Promoter as well as it’s competition-related partners and may opt out of this communication at any time.
  6. Participants in the competition understand and agree that in order to offer the competition; the Promoter must collect and use personal information about participants. This competition is conducted under the terms of applicable privacy statements.
