Jean-Pierre (JP) Rossouw has been writing about food and wine for over two decades and the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show is delighted to welcome him as a guest presenter in 2020. JP’s wine theatre session entitled “Wine: The Naked Truth” will cover a broad swathe of wine-related topics in a fun and inclusive manner. JP will dispel myths and break down barriers in an effort to educate and introduce more South African’s to the wonder of wine. JP is the Publisher of Platter’s South African Wine Guide and Rossouw’s Restaurants online, both by Diners Club – as well as the fun-loving title Everything You Wanted to Know About Wine but Were Too Afraid to Ask.
Platter’s Wine Guide is the leading authority on South African wine, now approaching its 40th year, and always an international best-seller. JP is only its third publisher and is taking it into new markets, also through digital enhancements.
Seeking reliable and incisive information about South African restaurants, JP launched Rossouw’s Restaurants Guide in 2004 and, as publisher and editor, grew it into the leading independent guide to dining out.
JP is also the convenor of the Diners Club Winelist of the Year Awards and has been a judge for the Southern African Academy of the San Pellegrino Top 50 Restaurants.
He has written a book on South African wine, published by Penguin called Tasting the Cape, as well as being regional chair for Phaidon’s international title Where to Eat Pizza. Jean-Pierre was previously the Food and Wine Editor for Condé Nast House & Garden and Wine Columnist for the Cape Times newspaper; he has also been the restaurant columnist for Mail & Guardian and Business Day, as well as being a regular contributor to international magazine titles.
